The Sukhoi Su-57 Fenton -- The First Russian Fighter Jet

military technology books

The Sukhoi 57 Russian stealth aircraft is the first, and it was designed to evade detection of F-22 Raptors. The aircraft is equipped with an advanced radar and electronic countermeasure suite. The aircraft is equipped with an infrared detector and ultraviolet missile alert system. These systems allow the Su-57 to stay under radar surveillance for a longer period of time.

Russia has placed orders for 76 Su-57 fighters. They will be in service by 2028. They will be used in conjunction the S-70 Okhotnik strikes drone, which will serve "a loyal wingman". According to Tass, the first flight for the Su-57 upgrade was set to take place in 2022. Trials of an "electric" Su-57 variant will follow, and are expected to last for two years.

This fifth-generation fighter aircraft was designed originally to fight the F-22. It is also equipped with a powerful radar as well as an infrared searching system and a UV-missile approach warning system. In addition, the Su-57 is equipped with a 30mm autocannon.

The bulk of the aircraft is constructed from titanium alloys. It is said to be extremely maneuverable. The Su-57 can climb at speeds between 33 and 361 m per second. It also has a rate for yaw which is five degrees. This allows it perform high angles with attack maneuvers while sustaining minimal altitude loss. The Su-57 can travel upto Mach 2 without using afterburners.

The Su-57 was designed to meet the requirements of the Russian Air Force. It requires 150-200 multi-role combatants. The Su-57 may not be available. In that case, the Air Force can turn to the Su-35. This multi-role jet has been widely employed in operations against the UNF, and other enemies.

A new aircraft engine, the "izdeliye 30", is being developed for the Su-57. According to reports it can deliver thrust of up to 16 tons. Another engine, the AL-41F-1, is also under development. Plans are underway to replace hydraulic systems in Su-57 aircraft with electromechanical drives. This will improve stealth characteristics and reduce maintenance.

Russia has been accused recently of using the Su-57 fighter in its fight against Ukraine. The United States denied this accusation but the British Ministry of Defense confirms that Russia has used the fighter against Ukraine. Unconfirmed reports that surfaced before June 2022 suggest that the Russian Air Force still uses the Su-57 for combat, despite the absence of any official evidence.

The UK Ministry of Defence examines the situation in Ukraine. It is currently focusing on Su-57. It published a Defense Intelligence updated on the topic. It stated that the aircraft was likely to be in combat from June 2022 and that the Russians might be planning to execute air-to–air missile strikes into Ukraine. While the details of this assessment are unknown, it appears that the aircraft may be a good fit for Russian missions, as its range and sensor capabilities are more than enough to match the capabilities of the Ukrainian opposition fighters.
